Orange County Diagnostics is equipped with a state-of-the-art Breast MRI CAD system called DynaCAD. Using this system, our radiologists are equipped with a comprehensive set of computer-assisted diagnosis (CAD) tools to perform real-time image analysis and interventional procedures with significantly increased diagnostic confidence.
Breast MRI is an excellent problem-solving technology that is often used to investigate breast concerns first detected with mammography, physical exam, or other imaging exams. It is also useful for staging breast cancer to determine the most appropriate treatment and for patient follow-up after breast cancer treatment.
MRI is also excellent at imaging the augmented breast. A breast tissue evaluation with implants is concerned with the tissue surrounding the implant to determine whether or not there is cancer. Abnormalities, or signs of breast cancer in these tissues, can sometimes be obscured by the implant on a mammogram. This type of exam requires a contrast agent.
An implant evaluation is concerned with leaking or ruptured implants. A contrast agent is usually not used in such exams and will therefore provide no information about the possibility of disease in the breast tissue itself.
