MRI/MRA

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA – blood vessels) uses a powerful magnet and radio frequency waves to obtain detailed images on any part of the human body. Because of this powerful magnet, you will be carefully screened several times prior to your exam. You will not be allowed in the scan room if you have a pacemaker, internal stimulator, defibrillator, cochlear implants, as well as other implanted devices. Medical device patients should always present complete information (manufacturer, model, serial number and date of implantation –obtained from your surgeon) about all implants before entering the room for the MRI scan.

Orange County Diagnostics has three MRI scanners that operate into the evenings as well as on Saturdays. Our two high field (1.5 Tesla) systems are short-bore, providing comfort of an open magnet, as well as fast imaging capabilities with superior image quality. Our open magnet (.3 Tesla) fills the needs of claustrophobic and/or larger, oversized patients. Sedation is an option for the severely claustrophobic – ask the scheduling department for details.
